Cuvée has become the gold standard for the world’s most celebrated vacation villas and chalets. In addition to the beautiful, modern home designs and incredibly thoughtful guest planning at all of our destinations, there are also a few standout gems—Cuvée Classics if you will—that our guests keep returning over and over again. Hualalai is one of those favorites: a place so serene and welcoming that guests not only have a hard time staying away, but they’ve also hosted everything from weddings to adventure trips here.
Along the exquisite western coast of Hawaii’s Big Island, near Kona, historic Hualalai is one of the few Hawaiian locales that maintains Hawaii’s tradition, Indonesian culture, and tranquility. And for the past several years, Cuvée’s Hualalai Villas—private estates on the ocean-hugging Four Seasons Hualalai golf course—have remained the best family and group destinations on the Big Island, in large part due to our unique, authentically-Hawaiian Cuvée experiences and adventures.
Below, how our guests discover the authentic, experiential side of Hawaii.
“Snuba” with Sea Turtles
There’s a sure advantage to being minutes from an iconic Hawaiian beach. One of our coolest recent discoveries, snuba tethers snorkelers to a long hose, allowing you to go underwater longer and deeper. (But it’s just as easy and family-friendly as snorkeling). And in Hualalai, seeing sea turtles is practically guaranteed.
A Better Dinner Party: Hualalai Hula
Want to laugh so hard it hurts? Host an in-villa Hula lesson (and create your own lei, too!). Cuvée’s Experience coordinator, Hoku, was a former Hula dancer—so the experience is as authentic as it comes.
Roll Your Own Sushi
One of the best parts of having your own villa is hosting special evenings with great cuisine and good conversation. Our top pick? A sushi making party, complete with fresh mai tais and day-boat Pacific catch.
Architecture + Design
We’ll admit it, we have a design obsession. The Hualalai Estate was custom-designed by Cuvée, with special details like corner-less walls that open to the sea, outdoor showers and a custom hot tub. Indonesian details and natural Hawaiian stone pay tribute to the island’s longstanding culture. World-class design and Hualalai’s best views, make this 6,300 sq. ft. estate incredibly special.
